On behalf of the entire Operation Surf family, we want to assure you that in times of uncertainty, we remain true to our core values and prioritize the care and safety of our community above all else.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 4th Annual Operation Surf Huntington Beach program, originally scheduled to run June 1st-7th, 2020, in response to global COVID-19 pandemic.

Operation Surf is taking all recommended precautionary measures to protect the health of our community, as well as complying with the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and the City of Huntington Beach. For up-to-date information on the COVID-19 virus, please visit hbready.com and cdc.gov/coronavirus.

We apologize for the disappointment this will cause to our participants, volunteers, supporters, and community who have all worked so hard to make this program a success. We feel that this is the most prudent choice at this time to ensure the health and safety of our entire community.

Although our programs are physically on pause, we are doing everything we can to keep our mission going digitally and look forward to getting our programs up and running again.  Right now, our mission is more critical than ever as America’s veterans face even more isolation and hardship. During this time, we are doing our best to serve our veterans by channeling the healing powers of the ocean to restore hope, renew purpose, and revitalize community virtually. We invite you to stay connected on our social platforms and join the fun as we create connection and community. We are #unitedinsolitude.

This program is held in support of the men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. Wounded active-duty and veteran service members from various branches of the U.S. military will take part in an epic life-changing experience in the Huntington Beach area. Through the healing power of the ocean, surfing, and camaraderie, these wounded heroes, to whom we owe so much, will overcome challenges and build a new understanding of their personal potential.

For many participants, the trip to Operation Surf is their first time leaving the hospital since being injured in Iraq or Afghanistan, making this unique and highly effective healing tool an invaluable part of their early recovery. At previous Operation Surf Huntington Beach programs, the wounded heroes have been astounded at the outpouring of love and appreciation from the Huntington Beach community and its many volunteers. Several opportunities exist for community involvement.

The help of our local community members is what makes this entire week possible. Volunteers at the beach, in the water, and in other key support roles are an invaluable component of our cause. We invite you to be a part of this amazing surf adventure.
