Our Commitment to the Chumash Heritage Marine Sanctuary
Operation Surf is proud to support and collaborate with the Chumash Heritage Marine Sanctuary, honoring the cultural, ecological, and historical significance of these protected waters. In partnership with the Northern Chumash Tribal Council, we intentionally incorporate sanctuary education and Chumash heritage into our programs.
Sanctuary awareness is woven into our opening ceremonies and program experiences, helping participants understand where they are, whose ancestral waters they are entering, and the importance of protecting marine ecosystems. Through this integration, participants deepen their connection to the ocean, recognizing it as a place of healing, responsibility, and stewardship.
