Crown of the Tidal Triton Fundraiser

In some myths, Triton was associated with healing and purification powers. His touch and the waters he controlled were believed to have restorative properties and could cleanse both body and spirit. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and like King Triton, you can provide healing for our nation’s Veterans in need. For the entire month, you have a chance to be Crowned the Tidal Triton by raising funds for those “lost at sea.” Help make a lasting impact and empower Veterans to navigate their mental health challenges through the therapeutic powers of the ocean.

About ‘Crown of the Tidal Triton’ Fundraiser

For September Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, you can help provide healing and support for our nation’s Veterans in crisis. Just as the ocean has a profound way of comforting and restoring, Operation Surf offers surfing to empower Veterans to navigate their mental health challenges through the therapeutic powers of the ocean.

How do I compete for the Crown?

The coveted crown awaits its rightful owner! One participant must raise the highest sum of funds by October 13th to emerge victorious and claim the crown. Keep a watchful eye on the leaderboards throughout the event; they will safeguard your claim to the crown! On October 14th, the final tally of donations will be made, and our champion will be crowned on October 15th during our grand live event.

When and where is the live event?

We extend an open invitation to all to join us in our celebration and the coronation of the Tidal Triton on October 15th. The grand festivities will unfold at Ascendo Coffee, nestled in downtown San Luis Obispo, CA. Indulge in the delectable offerings of beer, wine, and cuisine. If our Tidal Triton winner is from distant shores and is unable to attend the event, we will summon your presence through the mystical powers of Zoom, ensuring your rightful coronation. 🙂

Are there any prizes for winning?

Indeed, the crown carries with it a trove of treasures! The esteemed 1st place winner will receive a staycation in Avila Beach, CA. This splendid retreat encompasses a stay at one of Avila’s finest hotels, a mesmerizing round of golf, delightful wine tastings amidst the local tasting rooms, along with an invigorating surf lesson. As for our noble 2nd place contender, a magnificent Operation Surf fire pit brimming with pristine Op surf gear will be their well-earned reward!

September Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) “September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month— a time to raise awareness and discuss this highly stigmatized topic. In addition to shifting public perception, we use this month to spread hope and vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.”

Program Testimonials

"Operation Surf was refreshing and fun! Of course, it was really great to learn to surf, but OS is so much more than just surfing. Never having surfed before and not being very comfortable in the ocean, I was forced to get out of my own way and trust the process. Being able to accomplish something I thought I wouldn't be able to do was very rewarding, and it ignited a fire in me that I had let go dim. I feel rejuvenated and self-confident again. I look forward to trying new things, going on more adventures, and enjoying the sport of surfing for many years to come."

"The fact that I was able to completely disconnect from work and fully submerge myself in the experience without any obligations opened up many doors for relaxation, resetting, refocusing, rebuilding, bonding, and both personal and relational healing. We were both struggling individually and as a couple prior to this trip. The professionalism, relatability, enthusiasm, excitement, openness, and care that every single member of Operation Surf displayed towards us and one another was contagious. They helped us find our individual selves again and helped save our marriage."

"Operation Surf was hands-down the greatest trip that I have ever been on. We travel the world for our jobs and get to see and do things that most people can only dream of, but that’s often filled with guilt while my wife is left juggling her own work, the kids, and everything else life throws at her. We spend a substantial amount of time away from each other with all of the trips, training, and deployments. Getting to share this experience with my wife by my side and finding a new, exciting activity that we both immediately fell in love with truly made this a trip of a lifetime."
